A Backyard Corrales Wedding | Corrales, New Mexico

This beautiful Corrales backyard wedding was accompanied by on and off rain all day. In fact, the rain paused just long enough for the ceremony, and the moment it ended, it began pouring again. Luckily in New Mexico, rain is not activity ending. You usually just have to huddle under a tent for a little bit until it passes!

I absolutely love the way that water transforms things. Everyone has to embrace a little bit of wild, the skies become bolder, the colors are richer. I think rain on a wedding day also brings out something in people, too. It begins with stress about it happening. Until it does rain, and you realize that you don’t have any control. It is a freeing moment. You watch people let go of the stress and panic of making it “perfect” and melt into the beauty of every part of the story. This is my favorite part of weddings. There is always a point in the day where everyone stops panicking or worrying or feeling anxious, and they melt, seamlessly, into the joy of the day.

This wedding was no different. Conner & Lauren had a beautiful, rainy, joy-filled wedding. The soft pink details of the tables and the flowers brought such elegance to the day. I watched the stress of the day melt with the rain into the joy, and everyone celebrate Conner & Lauren’s love story.
